SELECTED PROGRAMME INTERPRETATIONS
A PROGRAMME in this archive refers to a structured approach to arts education delivered over a period of time, by a particular organisation to young people. Each programme is discernable by its particular approach, its durability of at least 3-5 years, and its official name which is identifiable by participants and public. The series is arranged in chronological sequence.
Teater Kanak Kanak Programme – KBN, Kuala Lumpur (1978-1985)
The TKK-KBN Programme was a children’s theatre programme organised by the Ministry of Culture at the National Cultural Complex.
Seni Kreatif Programme – USM, Penang (1986-1992)
Program Seni Kreatif USM was an integrated arts programme for 10-15 year old students organised by the School of Arts, Universiti Sains Malaysia (1986-1991).
Teater Muda Programme – FAC & YTP, Kuala Lumpur & Penang (1991-2002)
Produced by FAC and YTP, Teater Muda was a 10-year arts education programme and performance platform for young people.
Theatre-in-Education Programme – YTP & FAC, Penang (1998-1999)
Theatre-in-Education, YTP & FAC used several forms of applied theatre, and incorporated several forms of participatory techniques.
Anak-Anak Kota Programme – Arts-ED, Penang (2001 – 2008)
Anak-anak Kota (Children of the City) was the second programme initiated by Arts-ED, with the objective of providing a heritage education programme for young residents which would complement conservation efforts by adult-run heritage groups.
MyBALIKpulau Programme – Arts-ED, Penang (2004 – 2008)
Spanning six years, myBALIKpulau helped young residents of Balik Pulau connect with their community heritage by discovering, mapping, and interpreting natural and cultural assets through creative mediums like photography, illustration, and comics.
Heritage Heboh Programme – Arts-ED, Penang (2006 – 2013)
Heritage Heboh was a continuation of Arts-ED’s Aanak-Anak Kota programme and marked the peak of a phase of heritage education by Arts-ED; which can be attributed to George Town being designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, together with Melaka.
